have a great weekend

This weekend I plan on sleeping late, catching up on my book, and soaking up the sun. Trying to take it easy this weekend because next weekend is July 4th!
Also I plan on taking advantage of Anthropologie's SALE ON SALE. So many tops, so little time :)

Baker says, "Have a nice weekend!"

ootd

I wore this out to dinner the other night. White jeans are a staple in my closet, they are perfect for a date night or a day out. And this top is so ah-maze-ing, perfect for the summer! Don't you think?

Books I'm Loving

The Martian

I love reading books before they become movies, so I am so glad that grabbed this book this summer. It begins with Mark Watney being left behind on Mars by his crew members who had to quickly abort their mission because of a deadly storm. This book shows not only Mark's point of view but also everyone else's view that is involved with trying to get Mark home to Earth. This book is funny, smart, and will have you on the edge of your seat!

I've been listening to it via Audible.com, that way I can listen while I drive, get ready, or run!
Hope you enjoy this book as much as I am!

Perfect product

Shampoo!!

This is by far the best shampoo I have ever used! I received this Number 4 shampoo in a Birchbox awhile back and I cannot stop raving about it. This Fleurs de Temps Volumizing Shampoo makes my hair smell like a flower garden, and I can tell a difference in the volume of my hair after just one use.
It also has color protecting and anti aging properties, and it sulfate and sodium chloride free (that means it won't dry out or damage your hair).
Another wonderful thing about this product is that a little goes a long way, so you can just add water not product if you need more.
I really like this company because all their products are safe for you and for the environment!

Pop Sugar Must Have Box

Every month I wait not so patiently for my Pop Sugar box. They send things that are seasonal, useful, and they always have new products that I've never heard of.

This month:

These are the items I opened up to

I am so excited to try out the shower sponge and read Judy Blume's new book! I love getting my PopSugar box every month! It is definitely something I look forward too!

ootd

This past weekend we took a small road trip to Huntsville, AL to visit family! I love going to Huntsville, it is such a perfect little city.  Lately, I've been obsessed with mixing prints. One of my favorite fashion bloggers recently did a post on gingham and floral and I just had to try it out.

Another great item to have on a weekend getaway is this amazing Cuyana Weekender bag, it is a perfect timeless addition to any closet.

signature scents

A girl should have a signature scent that she loves.
Well I have plenty, and for different occasions too.

For work: Marc Jacobs Daisy
I love floral perfumes and Marc Jacobs does them right! I also love Marc Jacobs Woman, this is the best floral perfume that I have ever used.

For every day: Tocca's Giulietta
This is a great everyday perfume, it is very light and airy. It is good for when you still want to wear a perfume but want to scale back a bit and have a lingering floral scent.

For a date or night out: Chance
Need I say more?
I started using this years ago and haven't stopped since. This has been my go to since I can remember. It has floral tones and a sexy background about it. I always get compliments when I spritz this baby on.
Another Chanel perfume that I have in rotation is Coco Mademoiselle. It is a lighter, more citrusy scent. That pairs well as an everyday fragrance.

I also have been dying to try Walk on Air by Kate Spade! Being that it has notes of floral throughout all layers, I am sure that I will love it.

in my makeup bag

I have a collection of different products in my makeup bag and yet, it is still a pretty small collection. I believe in getting a routine and sticking to it. Keeping it simple. Too many products has caused me to stress out about my makeup and that's something I don't need in my life.
I am partial to Mac products but I have a few stray items that I just love and can't part with.
So, in my makeup bag...

Primer- Mac Prep+Prime Natural Radiance. This primer goes on light and leaves my skin glowing (I am all about a glow on my skin). Whats great about this primer is that it comes in two tones, a pink and a yellow for the different undertone of your skin.

Foundation- Mac Face and Body Foundation. This foundation makes my skin flawless! It has a satin glowing finish. I used to think I loved the matte finish, but after using this a getting compliments on my skin I don't think I'll ever go back.

Blush- Mac Mineralize Blush in 'Just a Wisp' this pink blush is one you can layer for a minimal dusting or a for a more dramatic look. This light pink color just adds that perfect touch of shine to your cheeks.
I also came across Tarte's True Love blush.  This color is beautiful and it also stays on your skin all night! I have never really used Tarte cosmetics but this Blush has me wanting to try more items.

If I had to choose makeup item in my bag to take with me on a deserted island it would most definitely be this Nars South Beach, it's called the Multiple and that is exactly correct. I use this on my eyes, cheeks, and lips. This can be used in so many different ways. I mostly dab it on my cheeks for a little bronzer glow. It makes you look and feel like you have actually been at South Beach all day.

Those are my basic must haves in my bag. Eyes and Lips deserve their own post. :)

brewfest and jumpsuits

Last Friday Taylor and I went with some friends to Magic City Brewfest. This is Taylors Mecca, good beer and good food.
We tried different Brews from all over Alabama and ate delicious tapas from Birmingham food trucks.
I also wore this favorite mixed print jumpsuit I snagged from J.Crew Factory during their memorial day sale and paired it with these metallic silver slides, also from J. Crew Factory.

Also wearing: Kendra Scott Earrings, Stone necklace: vintage

yoga in the park

Reason #72 why I love Birmingham.
FREE YOGA.

Not only free yoga but free yoga in the park.
Every Thursday Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama puts on a free yoga class at Railroad Park in downtown Birmingham. It is so much fun and so relaxing. Yoga is my go to relaxation exercise during the week. I can't think of anything that focuses my mind and relieves my body more.
Yoga creates "strength, awareness and harmony in both the mind and body" according to the American Osteopathic Association, and I couldn't agree more.
They not only offer yoga on Thursdays but offer different exercise classes every day of the week! It is an amazing way to get exercise and enjoy your community!

night time skin care

Taking care of my skin is something I started doing at a young age. I am so thankful that my 19 year old self started worrying about my skin and how it will look when I am older.
My night time skin routine is my favorite part of the day. It's a signal to my brain that it is time to start relaxing and get ready for bed.

After I've cleansed and gotten out of the shower I use bliss Daily Dexoifying Facial Toner with a cotton ball all over.

Then I use Aveda's Tourmaline Charged Radiance Fluid. This stuff goes on like a serum and leaves your skin looking so bright. I will be honest and say the only downside to this one is that it doesn't have a great smell.

For the perfect bedtime sleeping I use Kiehls Midnight Recovery Elixir. This is an oil that you are to pat on your face then rub in any remaining left over. This smells of lavender and is the best to put on before going to bed.

As a cream or moisturizer to go on last I will either use Kiehls Rosa Artica Lightweight Cream or Aveda's All Sensitive Moisturizer. The Kiehls cream is a little heavier than the Aveda Moisturizer so I will usually put that on a night and use the Aveda moisturizer in the AM.

These are all great products and I am very happy with my skin care routine!

Our honeymoon at the Excellence Resort

After our gorgeous wedding in Alabama we ventured to Cancun, Mexico for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Playa Mujeres Excellence Resort. It was perfect.
The resort has so many different restaurants and a huge spa. We ate delicious food and had an amazing 3 hour spa experience.

 Our door when we arrived.

This picture was taken on our balcony with our Go Pro.

Breakfast on the beach.

On our way to our massage we made a friend.

The entrance to the spa had huge canvas curtains that blew in the wind, it was so serene.

My "honeymoon" dress.

Beautiful beach view.

Dinner at the Flavor Market, our favorite place to eat.

One morning we ordered breakfast in bed.

Our last night!

We cannot wait to go back to this amazing resort.
